LEIGH DAVIS

Leigh graduated with a Masters of Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2002. He completed his undergrad in his hometown of Montreal at McGill University. He started his career in London at Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic and the Children’s Hospital of Western Hospital. Leigh moved to Toronto in 2003 and has been practicing at Pivot Sport Medicine and Orthopedics and Humber River Regional Hospital, and Rehabilitation Solutions at Toronto Western Hospital.

Leigh has been working with sports related injuries for the past 5 years. He believes strongly in manual and exercise therapy. To date he has completes his manual therapy level 2 and 3. He is currently working towards his Intermediate Certificate of Manual & Manipulative Therapy. He has also completed his level 1 (Part 1,2a, 3a) acupuncture from the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. Leigh continues to have a keen interest in sport physiotherapy and working with athletes. He has provided his services for sports teams like McMaster University’s lacrosse team, local soccer clubs, ultimate Frisbee tournaments, Skate Canada and at various other sporting events. Most recently Leigh was the chief therapist for the Ontario Women’s Rugby U20 women’s teams who were the 2011 National Champions and he will be the physiotherapist for our Canada’s figure skating team at the upcoming 2012 International Staking union (ISU) Four Continents figure skating championships held in Colarado Springs, Colarado.

Leigh believes in the constant advancement of physiotherapy in the community. He has dedicated his time to teaching colleagues, students and the public about the profession. He continues to pursue opportunities to advance his skill set and the quality of service that he and the profession provides.

NATALIA CONVERSO

Natalia is a Registered Physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapist of Ontario. She has been treating sports and orthopaedic injuries for the past 5 years. She is a Manual physiotherapist, this means that she uses a variety of different hands on techniques to better assess and treat your injury. She has taken and continues to take post graduate courses that focus on evidence based and well effective techniques to treat sports and orthopaedic injuries.
Natalia includes in her sessions manual therapy techniques, Active release techniques (ART), specific exercises for each injury and acupuncture for the treatment of pain and inflammation.

Natalia likes to treat patients of all ages and of all activity levels. Her goal is to understand your lifestyle and needs so she can better guide and advice you in your treatment and get you well the quickest way that she can.

ADRIANA BIERNAT P.T.

Adriana is the newest member of our On the Mark.It team. Adriana graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY in 2008. To date, she has completed continuing education courses with the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute and is finishing her Manual Therapy Level 2′s with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopeadic Division.

Adriana has worked with the London Beefeater football team, providing medical coverage during the games. She has coached and trained high school volleyball, soccer and track teams. She has been involved with running pool specific therapy programs for clients of all ages and has worked with sports teams by using specific plyometric training.

Adriana enjoys working with clients and athletes with various levels of function and skill sets. She hopes to advance her practice by continuing to complete her Manual therapy and Manipulative certification through the Orthopeadic Division and further continuing edication courses.

James Braithwaite P.T.

James is an engaging and effective physiotherapist. His treatment philosophy centers on using a variety of techniques to treat injury with the goal of getting patients excited about the great gains in physical function that are possible for them. He creates this therapeutic experience combining manual therapy with other therapeutic modalities like exercise therapy, acupuncture and preventative education. As a conditioning coach, James is also places significant weight on fitness and general health promotion which appear as consistent themes in his treatment sessions.

James holds a Masters in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University is a cerified strength and conditioning specialist, and continues to pursue advanced training in manual therapy. James enjoys taking an active role in his community both professional and personal. He has been a clinical instructor for Queen’s Physiotherapy students. He has served on the board of the Lindsay Kids of Steel Triathlon. He is an active fundraiser in support of multiple sclerosis research. James enjoys skiing, biking, volleyball and painting.

Dr. EVA CHAN, D.C.

Dr. Eva Chan graduated Magna Cum Laude from Logan Chiropractic College in 2008 and also obtained a Master of Sports Science & Rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Physical & Health Education in 1999. She is Certified in Active Release Technique (ART )of the Spine and is a Certified KinesioTaping Practioner. Dr. Chan has worked with athletes in a variety of sports such as track & field, volleyball, soccer, tennis, dragon-boat racing, hockey, wrestling, mixed martial arts, and basketball at the amateur and elite levels. She integrates joint manipulation and soft tissue techniques in the treatment of sports injuries as well as with non sports related conditions. Her main areas of interest within her practice are correcting biomechanical dysfunctions and muscular imbalances, ergonomics, exercise rehabilitation, lifestyle modifications and nutrition.

Dr. Chan regularly participates in volleyball, dragon-boat racing, yoga, golf and snowboarding.

Dr. Erika Bell, D.C.

Dr. Erika Bell graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 with a B.A. in Honors Specialization Kinesiology. She obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June 2011 graduating with Clinic Honors and Magna cum Laude designation. She is a certified Active Release Technique® provider for Upper and Lower extremity. She is also a certified McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture provider.

Dr. Bell believes in addressing both the cause and source of pain through orthopedic testing, manual soft tissue palpation as well as functional and lifestyle assessment. She uses evidence-based therapy that includes soft tissue therapy, joint mobilization and manipulation, acupuncture, modalities, patient education and rehabilitation to assess and treat a variety of conditions involving the spine and extremities.

Dr. Bell enjoys staying active through running, hiking and horse back riding in her free time. She continues to stay current by reading evidence-based literature to provide the best care for her patients. She plans to advance her practice by continuing her education through a variety of seminars for soft tissue therapy, sport injury, rehabilitation and women’s health.

JIM CHONG, RMT

Jim Chong graduated from Canadian Therapeutic College with a Sports Injury Therapy™ Diploma. The Program combines the skill set of Massage Therapy and the additional critical skill sets from related Sports Medicine Professions. He is also registered with the College of Massage Therapists Ontario, one of this province’s health regulatory bodies.

Jim has worked with ‘A’ list actors while on film shoots in Toronto and athletes at the Collegiate and AAA level sports of hockey, soccer, judo, and rugby. He currently works at his clinical practice in Toronto and Port Credit. He plans to continue his education with a certification in Active Release Therapy (ART).

KATIE WHITE, RMT

Katie graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (CCMH) of Toronto in June of 2009 where she excelled while learning all of the skills necessary to become a successful RMT. After achieving her diploma, she decided to leave Toronto and move to Kitchener-Waterloo to start her career. Throughout her time in K-W, Katie had the privilege of working at two well-known establishments, one being a Massage Therapy clinic and the other being one of Waterloo’s premier award-winning Medi-Spas. Katie gained invaluable experience throughout her first two years as a RMT and was fortunate enough to treat a wide variety of clients with diverse needs. Her treatment types ranged from relaxation to deep tissue, prenatal to geriatric, and sports related injuries to palliative care.

Katie integrates fascial techniques, trigger point therapy, and stretching as her primary therapeutic modalities into her treatment to aid in the rehabilitation of her clients. Katie is very excited to be back in Toronto and is looking forward to building a clientele and gaining more experience by working with the rehab team at On the Mark.It Physiotherapy & Sports Injury clinic.
